The Mission Statement of The Aloha Foundation, Inc.
The Aloha Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit educational institution with the objectives of fostering personal growth, self-reliance, self-confidence, cooperation, and a sense of community in people of all ages and backgrounds. These objectives are accomplished through a variety of experiences including camping, hiking, athletics, water sports, art, music, crafts, theater, and environmental education. In a warm and caring atmosphere, Aloha’s professional staff nurtures the health and wellbeing of individuals and helps guide them through challenging experiences that enrich our lives.
Location – We are located on Lakes Morey and Fairlee at the eastern-most edge of Vermont, just off Interstate 91, aproximately twenty-five miles north of White River Junction, VT and Hanover, NH. The five campuses of The Aloha Foundation are easily accessible from all directions via major highways. The Burlington, VT and Manchester, NH airports are within an easy drive and offer regular flights on all major airlines. Call us for details. Map and Driving Directions.
Activities – Campers at Aloha, Hive, Lanakila and Horizons choose which activities they wish to participate in each day. Children can sample many different activities, or focus on one or two areas of interest. We offer a wide variety of water sports (including swimming, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, rowing…), land sports (tennis, archery, riding, baseball, basketball, ropes courses, field and street hockey, soccer…), music and art (photography, weaving, painting, ceramics, drawing, papier mache, rocket building, jewelry making…), hiking and canoe trips, and a whole host of special activities.
Living – All campers at our three overnight camps live in small groups of three to six campers, with one or two counselors, in a platform tent or cabin. At Horizons, our day camp, there are small, open-air cabins, ideal for rest periods and other quiet time.
Counselors – The counselors and staff members of the Aloha Camps are the most essential element of our programs. Our staff is dedicated, diverse, caring and talented. Some of our counselors return to the Alohas year after year, helping us preserve our standards of excellence and maintain our best traditions; others are with us for the first time, and offer fresh ideas and new energy each summer.
Aloha Foundation counselors and staff receive intensive training before Camp opens, and undergo background checks by an independent agency prior to hiring. Most have advanced expertise in their chosen activity or field.
