Communication about Daily Attendance at Camp
If your child will be late to camp or will miss a day, please call Horizons at 802-333-3450. If your child becomes ill at camp and needs to go home early, you will be contacted by phone and/or email. If you cannot be reached, the camp will call or email the emergency contact listed in your camper’s health forms.

Ivy Oaks Analytics Certification for Tick, Mosquito, and Poison Ivy Control (NEW in 2018)
The Aloha Foundation is committed to improving our already high standards for our programs and making each year better than the last. With this in mind, we have partnered with Ivy Oaks Analytics, a public health company that works with over 100 summer camps and specializes in the control of ticks, mosquitoes, and poison ivy. Although these have never been a major issue at the Aloha Camps, we feel strongly that we have an obligation to our camp community to do everything in our power to reduce these risks.

Directions to Horizons Day Camp
Horizons is located on the shores of Lake Fairlee. Driving directions are located here.
By Car: Drop off by the tennis courts between 8:30-8:40 am. Pick up in the same location at 4:30 pm.
By Bus: You may sign up for our chaperoned bus service on your camp application (or email Karen Danforth to add the bus after your camper is already enrolled). The cost, due with your camp tuition, is $100 per session per camper ($50 for the one-week sessions). Please plan to arrive at bus stops early, as the bus is on a tight schedule and cannot wait. The chaperone will check your child in and off the bus. Campers are expected to follow the bus rules. If the bus is running late, you will notified by email and/or phone. Please note that we may alter the times and locations for the one-week sessions, depending on need.
- Campion Rink: bus leaves at 8:00 am, returns approximately 5:10 pm
- Marion Cross School: bus leaves at 8:10 am, returns approximately 5:00 pm
- Lyme Elementary School: bus leaves at 8:25 am, returns approximately 4:45 pm
- Thetford Elementary School: bus leaves at 8:30 am, returns approximately 4:45 pm
On the last Friday of each session, transportation will not be provided in the afternoon. Parents are invited to join us at 3:30 pm to meet counselors, tour the facility and share a brief program. Dismissal will be at 4:30 pm.
During our two-week sessions, 3rd through 7th grade campers ready to experience an overnight at camp are invited to join us for a cookout, campfire, and singing during the second week of camp. Breakfast will be served in the morning and campers will be ready for a full day of camp. Eligible campers will receive a form early in the first week of camp about the overnight. Please discuss this opportunity with your camper and decide together if he or she is ready to spend the night. There is no extra charge for this option. Please note: The 7th grade graduates leave camp for their overnight program. If, for some reason, your child does not wish to attend this trip, there is no “in camp” program for them that day.
