Ross Cannon

Hulbert Director

Ross Cannon, Hulbert Directo, has been a vital member of the Hulbert Outdoor Center since 2014. During his time at Hulbert, Ross Has filled many roles: Instructor, School Consultant, Leadership Trainer, Wilderness Medicine Instructor, Wedding Coordinator, Camper Director, and Jungle Gym to young campers. Ross embodies the diverse nature of Hulbert programming, consistently adapting programs for ALL HULBERT participants to provide powerful and transformational experiences.

Before arriving at Hulbert, Ross studied Psychology at Rhode Island College. Realizing his growing passion for Outdoor Education, he completed the NOLS Wilderness Rescue Semester. Upon graduation, Ross brought skills in Swiftwater Rescue, Ropes Rescues, and Wilderness Medicine to Hulbert and the Aloha Foundation. This unique combination of “hard” and “soft” skills, learned over a decade in Outdoor Education at Hulbert, and 20+ years at Camp Lanakila, are for sharing with others! Ross also shares these skills with our local community as the President of the Fairlee Fast Squad and Deputy Chief of the Fairlee Fire Department.

In his own words, “I love the diversity in [Hulbert] programming. We are lucky enough to connect with so many people that are looking for this unique experience for their groups. Whether it’s kids on vacation from school, a middle school looking to deepen the connection within their grades, or private group that has a generational connection to this campus. Hulbert is here for them to find joy and peace in nature, along with the ability to take safe steps outside of their comfort zone and try new things. When you get to facilitate these types of experience, how could you not love coming to work every day?”
