Private communication is prohibited. Refrain from accepting social media friend requests, texting or calls via messaging apps, etc. Communication should be transparent and reflect your position as a role model for campers and their families.
Set up channels for appropriate communication. You can encourage campers to post publicly through the camp’s public social media accounts. Postcards are a terrific way to communicate with a camper. With Aloha Foundation and parental permission, you may email a camper if the parent is copied on the communication. Likewise, refrain from sending personal letters unless addressed in the care of a parent.
Know the policy for reporting serious situations. Sometimes campers initiate communication for important reasons. Campers may see staff as a person they can confide in about abuse, bullying or other serious personal problems. We have a policy relating to how and to whom these serious situations should be reported. Make sure you know the policy and follow it so that the appropriate person can make sure the camper gets the help he or she needs.
We offer camps and programs for people of all ages. Let’s talk about you, your child, your family – and discover together which experience you would value most. There are many options and possibilities!
