Packing

Packing Tips and FAQs

What changes are there for 2024?

  • We have a new uniform vendor!
  • Aloha campers no longer need white shorts.
  • We no longer allow plain grey shirts for campers, only shirts with the camp logos.

Why do we wear uniforms?

The goal of our uniform is to eliminate any preoccupation with style and brand of clothing, especially as it plays a part in creating power and prestige. Within the camp community, we want to focus on what is really important and minimize what is not. In keeping with this philosophy, we ask that campers pack only items on the packing list and leave extra “stuff” and valuables or brand-name clothing at home. Many items on the packing lists can be purchased from any vendor and we offer rental options to help keep the cost down. Please reach out to your camp director if you have questions about the packing list or concerns about sourcing all of the items.

Can I donate my camper’s used uniforms?

Many campers choose to donate their gently used camp uniforms back to the camps. These are cleaned and used to create rental packages for future campers. Interested in donating your outgrown uniforms? Mail them to the camp addresses or bring them with you to drop-off. *While Aloha campers no longer need white shorts, we will happily accept them as donations!

What are the uniform rental options and how do I sign up?

  • Standard Uniform Rental Package: All campers may sign up for the $45 Standard Uniform Rental Package. This package includes 5 shirts (including 1 collared shirt), 3 pairs of shorts, and 1 warm layer (sweatshirt or fleece, depending on availability). The uniforms will be waiting for your camper upon arrival. This package is meant to supplement the purchase of uniforms and is not intended to provide your camper with enough clothing for the whole camp session.
  • Campership Uniform Rental Package: Campers receiving financial aid may rent a complete uniform package free of charge. The package includes enough shirts, shorts, sweatpants, and warm layers for your camper’s entire session. It also includes the Aloha or Hive tie.

Does my camper need a trunk?

All campers will need a trunk at camp (we recommend a hard-sided trunk sized: 32” x 18” x 13.5”). Trunks store personal belongings and can act as a surface for playing cards or writing letters home. Visit Everything Summer Camp and click on Find My Camp to receive a small discount. International campers and those receiving financial aid may sign up to rent a trunk from the camps.

  • International Trunk & Bedding Rental Package: For $45, international campers may rent a trunk and bedding package. This includes a trunk (or footlocker), 2 sets of sheets, 2 pillowcases, 3-4 warm blankets, 1 pillow, 2 bath towels, and 2 washcloths. The trunk and bedding package will be waiting for your camper upon arrival.
