Financial Aid

Campership Aid

Campership aid is our term for financial aid for camp. We hope that every child has the opportunity to attend our summer camps regardless of their family’s financial situation. While a family’s household income is the leading factor in determining how much they can expect to pay, we also consider several key factors such as cost of living, number of children attending camp, session length, and extenuating circumstances.

Campership aid supports more than just tuition. Camp-sponsored transportation may be available at no cost. For overnight campers, we provide a full rental package for uniforms, trunks, and bedding.

Below you’ll find some estimates we hope will be helpful in your consideration of camp and planning (we use a family’s Adjusted Gross Income as their Household Income). As our funding is limited, we encourage applicants to apply early. When awarding aid, priority is given to returning campers, then their siblings, then new families. Our goal is to make it sustainable for a family to send their children to camp for multiple years.

How does the campership process work?

Applying for campership aid is easier than you think!

To apply for aid:

  • Apply on our Registration Site. Sign in or create an account and choose your camp and session.
  • Be sure to select the Campership Aid application. In addition to the standard camp application questions, you’ll be asked a few questions about your household’s income and extenuating circumstances. You can upload your taxes or email them to kdanforth@alohafoundation.org. Check your email within a few days and reply to any questions from the Campership Committee.
  • In about three weeks, you can expect an email with an update on your camper’s status.

To accept your offer:

  • If your email update includes an award offer, reply within seven days to accept the offer.
  • Work with Karen to create a payment plan or mark your camp’s tuition due date on your calendar if you prefer to pay in full all at once.
  • Sign up for any “extras” – transportation to/from camp & rental packages (uniform, trunk, and bedding) for Aloha, Hive, or Lanakila.

Get ready for camp:

  • Make payments and complete camp paperwork on time.
  • Check your email and the camp website regularly for updates.
  • Start packing! Review the packing list on your camp’s page of the Aloha Foundation website.

What if I have more than one camper? Or want to return next year?

Our goal is to make it sustainable for a family to send their children to camp for multiple years. We give priority to returning campers, then their siblings. Provided that a family applies early in the enrollment season and that their income has not increased significantly since last year, most campership aid recipients receive comparable aid for all the years a camper wishes to attend.
