Bring on Summer!

Greetings Ohana Family!

As we eagerly plan for another season at Ohana Family Camp, I find myself reflecting on the unforgettable moments of my first summer as Camp Director. From the moment families arrived—cars packed with eager children, favorite board games, and well-loved hiking boots—it was clear that Ohana’s spirit is as strong as ever.

Throughout the summer, I had the privilege of witnessing the traditions and simple joys that make Ohana such a special place. I watched as families gathered on the front lawn for evening games, paddled across the lake together at sunrise, and shared stories by the fire, laughter blending with the crackle of the flames. Each day was filled with the kind of connections that can only come from unplugging from the outside world and being truly present with one another.

One of the most rewarding parts of this summer was getting to know the incredible Ohana staff. Their energy, kindness, and dedication to creating a welcoming and enriching environment for every guest was inspiring. From leading nature walks and tie-dye sessions to preparing delicious meals that brought families together around the dining hall tables, their passion for camp was evident in everything they did. Ohana wouldn’t be the same without them.

I also loved hearing from families—some visiting for the first time, others returning for their tenth summer—about what Ohana means to them. For many, it’s a place where time slows down, where kids can explore freely, and where parents and grandparents can reconnect away from the distractions of everyday life. Seeing children make new friends over a game of capture the flag, or parents enjoying a quiet morning coffee on the porch, reinforced just how valuable this experience is.

As we look ahead to the upcoming summer, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement. Ohana continues to be a place where memories are made, traditions are honored, and new adventures await. I can’t wait to welcome you to another summer of laughter, discovery, and togetherness, and feel so fortunate to be a part of this Ohana.
