Wellness Support
Wellness Support at Camp
As an organization, our top priority is to ensure that every camper in our community is safe, loved, and cared for. This means making sure they get what they need to have a joyful summer full of challenge, growth, and opportunities to become their best selves.
Campers requiring virtual therapy calls on a regular (weekly, biweekly, monthly) or as-needed basis will be provided a private space for these meetings to take place. These calls can be arranged with our Health House staff prior to camp. If your camper decides only to have therapy as needed while at camp (i.e. not scheduled prior to arrival), please remind them to check in at the Health House at any time, and we will help coordinate a call with their therapist.
Starting in 2023, we have hired a Wellness Coordinator to support campers and counselors. In addition to providing our staff with a Mental Health First Aid training, the Wellness Coordinator holds office hours throughout the summer for campers and staff and is available to guide our decision making in how best to handle a camper’s mental and emotional needs while at camp.
Since 2021, we have contracted with Little Rivers to provide on call and in person therapy support to our campers and counselors. Based in Bradford, Vermont, they reserve appointment blocks per week for our campers. Should your camper express interest in seeing a mental health professional, your camp director, camp nurse, Wellness Coordinator, or Nursing Supervisor will reach out to discuss with you prior to scheduling an appointment.
Please contact our Wellness Coordinator, Caroline Christie, at cchristie@alohafoundation.org with any questions or to finalize your camper’s therapy session schedule this summer.
