Exciting News – Camp Lochearn and Aloha

By The Aloha Team

June 2, 2026

Dear Alumni, Families, and Friends,

Some springs bring more than a change of seasons, and this one carries with it an exciting opportunity for the Aloha Foundation, which we are eager to share.

We have been working with Ron and Ann Scott, the longtime owners of historic Camp Lochearn on Lake Fairlee, to purchase the camp. For years Camp Lochearn has had high demand for its programs, helping young people grow in confidence, friendship, and independence in the outdoors – values that fit very naturally alongside our own.

Nearly a year ago, Ron and Ann reached out to Vanessa Riegler as they began thinking about their retirement. Their hope was that Camp Lochearn would remain a camp. To that end, they sought a trusted steward to help protect not only the programming opportunities for children, but the waterfront, historic buildings, and natural lands along Lake Fairlee.

Over the months that followed, a board-appointed committee met with the Scott family to work through what it would mean to carry this responsibility forward. We are now completing the necessary steps to do so and expect that the Aloha Foundation will assume ownership of Camp Lochearn’s property and assets in the fall of this year, following the 2026 summer camp season.

This is truly an exciting next chapter in our history. For more than 120 years, The Aloha camps have flourished by remaining true to what matters most, and by making thoughtful, deliberate choices so that meaningful experiences can endure. This opportunity is rooted in that same spirit: ensuring that camp experiences thrive for generations to come and committing to protecting the land that makes camp possible.

Our Interim Executive Director, Eric Arnold, is thoroughly versed in this process and well-equipped to serve as a steady point of continuity as this work continues. For those interested in learning more about this opportunity, we’ve created a dedicated page on our website with more information, including answers to common questions.

I hope you will join us in imagining what this opportunity could make possible in the years ahead for our growing community and the enduring, profound role camp continues to play for each of us.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, and in the spirit of Aloha,

Jennifer Mogck
