Visiting Weekend

Learn more about Visiting Weekend

Schedule: Here is the general schedule for the weekend. A more detailed one will be handed out by the camps upon your arrival. If you are visiting children at two or three of our camps, you may check your children out (at the Hospitality Tent) to take them to another camp. Other than visiting our other camps, campers should remain at camp throughout Visiting Weekend. Visiting Weekend provides an opportunity to visit your child in the camp environment and experience a bit of camp yourself!

Lodging: The camps are not able to provide lodging for visitors. As summer is a popular time to visit New England, we recommend booking your lodging early. See our list of local accommodations for ideas.

Things to bring: Come prepared to be outside most of the weekend – check the forecast and remember that VT summer weather can be humid and hot or rainy and chilly. Inclement weather may result in schedule changes. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes; bring warm layers or rain gear if needed; pack a bathing suit and towel; bring a water bottle, sunscreen, sunhat, bug spray, and a mask or two.

COVID-19 Protocols: Guests are not required to register for the weekend in advance. There are no restrictions on the number of guests this year. While we are not requiring COVID-19 vaccination for attendance, we do ask that guests come to Visiting Weekend healthy. We continue to follow the guidance provided by the CDC for respiratory viruses, which can be found here. We have plenty of handwashing stations and most activities will take place outside. Masks are not required, but we will have plenty available if needed.

Getting here: Driving directions are available here and up-to-date road conditions (including traffic incidents, construction, or weather-related closures) can be found here. The camps are approximately 30 minutes north of Lebanon Airport, the White River Junction Amtrak Train Station, and the Dartmouth Coach bus service. We are about 90 minutes from Manchester Airport (MHT) and Burlington Airport (BTV), and about 2.5 hours from Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS).

Saturday Picnic: On Saturday, families may bring a picnic lunch to share with their camper. Pack your child’s favorite foods from home, or check out our list of local stores and cafés for picnic options.

Saturday Dinner: After enjoying a fun day with visitors, campers will have a late Rest Hour and Dinner at camp on Saturday night. Visitors should make their own plans for rest and dinner offsite during this time (from 4:00 – 6:30 pm). There are several good local restaurants or you may sign up to join other visitors at the Lake Morey Resort from 4:30-6:30 pm for a hardy “backyard barbecue dinner,” and a Meet & Greet reception on the terrace, featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and barbecue chicken legs, along with delicious side dishes and desserts. Pre-registration is required, and the cost is $35 per person (children under 5 are free and do not need to pre-register). Please complete the reservation and payment form below by July 15.

Note for Families with Camperships: We have a limited number of free tickets available to families who receive financial aid for camp. To request free tickets, please email Karen Danforth soon so we can add your family to the list. (You do not need to complete the registration below if you’ve emailed Karen for free tickets.)

7/19/24 Dinner Update: We have reached capacity for the Visiting Weekend dinner at Lake Morey Inn!
