As 2024 comes to a close, I’m excited to share an update on the Aloha Foundation and the path ahead. Thanks to our dedicated team and your steadfast support, the foundation is entering 2025 with renewed focus and energy.
A pivotal piece of our future success is the addition of a Senior Director of Programs, a role that will oversee and elevate all Aloha programs, including residential camps, day camps, family camps, and more. This position will drive safety, quality, and equity across the organization and is vital to our mission’s continued success
I am thrilled to announce that Ross Cannon has been appointed as our Senior Director of Programs. Ross’s exemplary work over the past decade speaks volumes about his dedication and expertise. He has played a central role in enhancing safety initiatives, leading staff training, and ensuring the high quality of our programs. In this new role, Ross will guide our camps to meet the evolving needs of campers and families. His leadership is supported wholeheartedly by the board of trustees, the staff, and me.
As Ross focuses on building and refining Aloha’s outstanding programs, Elisabeth O’Neal has hit the ground running as our new Director of Enrollment and Marketing. Despite stepping into this role during an exceptionally busy time, Elisabeth has already made a significant impact. She has partnered with camp directors to host open houses and recruitment events, identified targeted advertising opportunities, and developed new pathways to reach prospective campers. Elisabeth’s efforts are already yielding year-over-year growth in both new and returning campers.
On the financial front, Penny Johnson, our CFO, has made incredible strides. Over the past year, Penny has streamlined processes and uncovered efficiencies that have positioned us for a more sustainable future. Her 35 years of financial expertise, coupled with her pragmatic approach to hiring and payroll, have delivered significant value to the foundation.
These three key areas—enhanced programming, intentional recruitment, and financial sustainability—form the foundation for Aloha’s brightest future. With the team now fully in place for 2025, we are poised to deliver on our mission of fostering trust, growth, and friendship for generations to come.
Thank you for your support of the Aloha Foundation, and all of our dedicated and talented staff. Your support is an essential driver of our success. I look forward to sharing more updates as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.
Warm regards,
Vanessa
