The Hulbert Outdoor Center provides high-quality educational experiences for children and teachers from public and private schools. Each year, our programs serve over 2,000 children representing more than 60 schools.

In addition to our traditional residential and day programs, Hulbert now offers on-site and school based service-learning and leadership programs for elementary, middle and high school students. These intensive, curriculum-based programs extend the traditional Hulbert focus on effective group work and personal development into on-going action for students.

Our professional development workshops and consulting services help teachers bring our philosophy and approach to their work with colleagues and students. Whatever program options you choose, we will strive to design an experience that is meaningful and memorable.

For more information on our programs for schools, please contact Hulbert Director Jason Knowles, or call 802-333-3405.

Residential & Day

School Group Programs

Our one- to five-day residential and day programs focus on leadership skills, teambuilding, community, personal challenge, natural history, and outdoor skills development. Program options are available for students from grades K-12. When you schedule a program, we work with you to customize activities and program options based on your goals and in accordance with the needs of your students and your school. We have a range of evening options to compliment numerous daytime programs.

InspiringKids Program

InspiringKids is a youth leadership, community building, and philanthropy program. Through Common Core aligned lessons students learn about community needs and nonprofits then lead their peers in projects that emphasize how everyone can use their time, treasure and talent to help others. Hulbert is thrilled to now offer this program on its own or incorporated into teambuilding, leadership, or other Hulbert programs. Learn more about InspiringKids by watching this short video.

Success Leadership Program

The Success Leadership Program helps middle school students learn how to become leaders in their school and community. The program kicks off with a 3-day conference at Hulbert where students engage in teambuilding sessions, leadership workshops, and community project lessons. Participants return to their school ready to educate their peers about what they have learned and to lead a Community Day to benefit local nonprofits and their community.

High School Leadership Program

Hulbert’s leadership programs for high school students bring together group and individual challenges, workshops on effective leadership styles and communication, and planning for projects to lead at their school. These programs can be customized to individual school and student goals and interests.
